It just...locked up?
My Air compressor AND A.I.R.(emissions) pump have been both squeaking really bad lately. The AC does not work period and the clutch wouldnt engage. I gutted and lubed the A.I.R. pump last year. Yesterday, while driving, the compressor AND apparently the A.I.R. pump both just locked up. Tore the belt all to hell.
How is this even possible??? Just a freak accident or has anyone heard of these things just "locking up" before....

Remove what is left of the old belt then try to spin the alternator, power steering, water pump, air pump and compressor pulleys by hand (with the engine off of course). To me it sounds like your compressor/compressor clutch/shorted locked up. If all the pulleys spin freely by hand disconnect the electrical plug at the compressor then intall a "S" new or "good" used belt and give her crank.
