I'm changing out my rear spindles and on reassembly I noticed this. Is this normal? Seems like a long way to have to push it to line up with the bolt.
Normal and due to suspension droop. This is a great illustration regarding why people experience issues when using poly bushings in the spindle rods on a street car. They bind due to suspension movement.

Thanks Jim,
I was wondering about the lowering.
Ok, I was just looking at some Energy Suspension bushings since the ones I have are pretty bad looking. Should I just use GM bushings instead?
heim ends are great for track use, die young when subjected to normal street sith.
I have the heim jointed kit from Banski Motorsports (linked in my sig) and they do wonders at the track but I didnt notice a difference on the street. They are teflon lined with smooth operation. They dont squeak and the ride is the same as it was before.
I think track wear on a heim link would be much greater then street use. There is a ton of metallic dust flying, sticking, and getting baked on to things from toasted pads. I don't mind rain events and have seen things rust up pretty fast. I have some heims on my car that have been through several years of racing and street use, they are okay. Of course YMMV!
I'm still waiting on the engine. I took the transmission in this week though.

Thanks everybody I'll probably just use rubber bushings for these.
Andrew, you better tell your mechanic to get to it! It's going to be summer soon.
