Default lowering block learn

Hey guys,

i have been tuning my C4 and i have a really high block learn it sits about 150 - 160 and when flooring it the block learn drops to 132 - 138. i have been playing with the power enrichment Vs RPM. but it will not affect the idle. can anyone offer advice for what i need to change?

Some may disagree with me on this. But, the best way to make global blm changes is to change the "injector constant". In your case try lowering the "IC" in your tune.

i am not seeing injector constant on tunerpro i am using the 6E definitions. the only thing with injector in it is the size at 40 psi. can i use a different XDF file and use it with my car? or can i only use 6E?

Injector constant and injector size, one in the same. Are you running 40lb injectors? If so, try lowering it to 38 or 39 and see if it takes you in the right direction.

In a 1988 to change your idle block learns you need to increase your MAF sensor tables in table one. Increase the grams per second for each voltage reading by 10% and see if that improves your BLM readings. Try to match the transition from table 1 to table 2 so they are the same.

I have messed with the MAF table one and it did not move the block learn off of 160. the MAF was reading 9.86 Grams/sec at idle so I moved it around from 7.36 Grams/sec to 13.86 Grams/sec and the block learn did not move from 160.
I have messed with the injector sizing as well and it still will not move. When i give it any gas it drops to around 128. am i just missing something? the car has 42 pound injectors it should not be lean.

This is what a typical MAS table looks like. Increasing the grams per second at each voltage position will increase the amount of fuel added try upping the idle table #1 by at least 10% and then scan the car and look for changes. Keep increasing the gm/sec until you get the desired idle BLM's.

Sometimes a big cam will fool an O2 sensor because the large overlap at idle will cause exhaust gas to mix with the remaining fuel in the cylinder making the 02 sensor believe the car is lean when it actually is not. This is only a problem at idle and it may be your issue, I do not know your cam specifications. The O2 measures the amount of oxygen burned in the mixture and a large exhaust dilution can cause false readings.

Volts gm/Sec
0.00 8.4
0.18 3.8
0.37 5.3
0.55 7.3
0.73 9.9
0.91 10.9
1.10 14.0
1.28 17.7
1.46 22.3

Mass Air Flow Table #2

1.46 22.3
1.55 25.0
1.65 27.6
1.74 30.6
1.83 33.8
1.92 37.1
2.01 40.7
2.10 44.5
2.19 47.7

I think you are right about the cam being the problem this is the cam i am using

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-08-432-8/ so if I am getting false reading should I tell it to use the LV8 for BLM instead of dispflow?

The BLM won't come down on its own. It needs the integrator to pull it down.

So in order to see the BLM change, you must see integrator activity. The 160 that you see may be from stored SAM cell data if the integrator isn't moving.

Disconnect the battery to clear the SAM data. This will allow your blms to start from 128 and adjust from there. If cell 0 blm climbs again to 160, then you will know that the ECM is seeing a continous lean condition. This may be the result of a misfire, or other source of extra air in the exhaust.

Post up the injector offset tables from your tune. I suspect that they need some work for the 42s.

i don't have injector offset tables. i am using the 6E bin and the 6E.xdf from the tuner pro website

here is my MAF table 1.

0.18 4.50
0.37 6.09
0.55 9.28
0.73 12.75
0.91 13.50
1.10 17.34
