Default 92/95 intake questions...

Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the following...

I have a 92 and I picked up a 355 from a 95 TA. The motor came complete and im looking for a direction for my build. Is there a benefit to keeping a 92-93 style intake on it. I picked one of these up and my hopes are to do a fairly complete buildup and just swap them out. OR should i stick with the 94 up style thats already on the motor?

Is there anything different between these two with wiring and the computer. I'm still learning here and trying to work within my comfort level.

My plan going forward is to use the 355 and freshen up if needed. Hot cam or similar spec cam, new heads.

Not to drag this on and bare with me hear...what's a stock set of heads roughly go for? Less than 40K and extremely clean. I'll be piecing out the parts I dont need before I start and dont want to sell of something I will need...

95 Vettes have the GenII Opti, but I think the TAs didn't get that until 96. Same for sequential injector firing and that of course means PCM differences, again not sure what year TAs got that.

So it sounds like I'll need to keep the 92-93 style... Thats what I had thought but looking for confirmation.

I know the Opti unit is different and a vented one. I just changed out the one along with water pump on my 92. I was planning on swapping them over to the new engine at changeover time. Any issues with this that you guys are aware of...as I'm sure there are.

You will probably find it easier to use your exisiting '92 intake making sure to install a set of injectors sized to the new engine's power. Your '92 has batch fire injectors, I'm pretty sure even the '95 TA has sequental fire injectors. If the manifolds look exactly the same then I'm probably wrong - but if the T/A has a front fuel crossover for the fuel injectors then it is a sequental fire.

95 F-Body intakes have the crossover for seq inj, and a vented opti.

To run a non-vented opti on the 95 engine you'll need the 92's timing cover, timing set, opti wire harness, and camshaft. If you use an aftermarket camshaft just make sure you trim the dowel pin to the 92's specs.

I would use the 92 intake just because the 92 fuel rail covers wont fit the 94+ intake. The fuel rail crossover is the only differance. They flow the same and have the same size ports.

The heads are worth approx $200. Ebay and other classafieds are full of used LT1 heads.
