I decided to replace mine. I did an exchange and got one from a later 80's C4. I wanted the thicker wheel. I ended up finding a copany at Bloomington gold that did an exchange. Plus I got the 2 tone leather black and charcoal. It is not obvious that it is two tone, but that is what I wanted, subtle.
I love the newer design with the thicker wheel. If you are not going for originality, my opinion is that is the way to go. Total cost was $275 shipped after exchange.

I have an 84 steering wheel for sale if you want it. It's a little soft where you put your hand on top of the wheel, but it doesn't ooze anything out. It's in overall good condition. If you want a pic I can send it to you. If interested maybe we can work something out...
