I flushed coolant and put in 50/50 water, anti freese and 1 bottle of water wetter and runs about 5-10 degs cooler not sure if it was new coolant or the wetter becouse I did both at same time on my 95 lt1
most 'antifreeze' mixes sold today as 'summer/winter' include a 'surfactant' that improves heat transfer by reducing surface tension, check the label on the jug...but racing bodies often prohibit antifreeze in the cooling system because it makes the track slippery and is very difficult to remove after wrecks/engine failures, and in those circs a surfactant additive of some type may increase cooling system op...there are myriads of different chemicals that work as a surfactant when mixed with water, and (of course) the 'special' labeled little cans.
If there's a cooling problem, it won't fix it. Basically, a car should be at or near the thermostat at cruise. Around town, temp should rise to the threshold for fan operation and when the fan(s) come on, the temp should drop. It wasn't designed to get hotter. If yours doesn't do any of this, something needs to be repaired.
