Strange problem

Hey guys I have a problem and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Basically when I start the car (86 coupe) after its warmed up it will start and idle fine but when I put it in reverse and press the gas the engine sometimes dies. I can rev the engine in park or neutral as much as I want with no problems. If I let it idle for a minute or two before putting it in gear I don't have any problems. I was thinking some thing might be wrong with the cold start valve but I really don't know. Any ideas?

What is the RPM at idle just before you throw it into a gear?

Adjust your idle up a bit.

Maybe clean trotlebody and IAC valve to.

If i put it into gear when the RPMs are above 1000-1200 it dies. If I wait for it to drop to around 700-800 its fine. I'll check the throttle body tomorrow. thanks
