When people ask you how fast it is, just make up a number you like and stick to it. Unless you are planning some open road racing it really doesn't make any difference. Most of the people who will ask you what your top speed is will forget whatever you tell them, its not a serious question - so why not have a little fun with them: you could say 120 mph and then say that is as far as you have personally verified, and then mess with them by stating that was only half throttle
its going to be a bit less for a convertable because of added bracing that increases weight.
I was able to get my 92 'vert up to 160 on a stretch of I-90 in Montana. Took awhile but it did get there. With an A4, gearing will play a part in top speed. My 92 had the optional 2.73 gears; it may not have made 160 with the base 2.59.
While different car mags have tested Corvettes for top speed, there are a number of factors that come into play for their testing; air temps, available distance, condition of the car, and yes, driver ability or pucker factor......
any one know wat the top speed on these things originally was?
like listed top speed
thanks
I've got copies of several reviews for the 92. Top speeds reported (estimated and measured) ranged from 157 to 173. The 173 was measured (not estimated) and was the highest of three runs on a 3 mile straight. The 173 car tested was a 6 speed. I believe GM used 168 or so.

You have a one of a kind, only 2 gears offered on a4's were 2.59 base and 3.07 performance on 92's.
My 93 w/headers and 141k miles got up to 154 and just barely and that was w/2.59 gears.
