Default surging

hello working on my prob today plugged in scanner and all of a sudden scanner says computer is in open loop with a lean mix any ideas?

If the engine's surging and you're getting a lean indication reading, those match. Surging is usually the result of a lean condition.

You'll need to first check for a vacuum leak. Could be somewhere in the intake tract, exhaust up-stream of the 02(s) or the EGR to begin with.

Default open loop issue

scanner says its in open loop will a temp sender make it stay in open loop? also says its lean but engine is at oper temp

Default open loop issue

hello well i have stumbled across my open loop issue for some reason my temp sender went bad I replaced it and comp went right into closed loop now scanner toggles from lean to rich like it should it fixed most ot=f my surging issue also however it still surges at idle from about 600-675 rpm other than that it seems to be doing allright for now thanks for everyones info.
