You talking about the under watter sound? I cant tell if it is just the video or not.
Sounds like open compression to me, Check your spark plugs. One maybe loose and letting compression blow by.
The liquid splatter on the back of each valve cover is that related to you prob?
Also remove the oil fill cap with it running, if it has jumped time, or burnt a valve compression will blow by into the valve cover. You will be able to fell an extreme amount of pressure as you put you have over the oil cap hole.
On longest video I begun shooting from left side, there was pretty quet sound. Sound got louder when I moved to rear of right side.
I was listening with stethoscope with stick touching engine and didn't hear anything. I removed stick listening w/o touching engine and located sound near right rear cylinder.
25th second of longest video has loudest sound. Note that camera moved closer to right rear cylinder. Engine is slightly shaking like it has vacuum leak or one cylinder doesn't fire.
On shortest video sound gets louder when camera moves closer.
Did the sound start after you washed the motor? Is your SES light on?
And could you describe the sound to us.
Sound was before washing, engine light is not on. I would suspect piston sound because it disappears when engine warms up. I was also thinking about air pump sound. When I was buying this car I heard sound and decided it was not engine noise. It is low frequency sound like piston slapping but I cannot hear it with stethoscope stick touching engine, sound is outside of engine.
I just need to listen better.
Mine makes that same whup whup whup noise, only when its cold, only on the passenger side. I pulled the valve covers and torqed down the roller rockers to FSM specs, noise still there. My 2000 chevy truck , with a 327 made a very similar noise on the passenger side as well, a little higher pitched.
What would would cause piston slap? This would be the 4th chevy motor I have heard that noise on.....the truck I had made it to 130k miles with that noise btw.

i discarded all the accesories and pulleys by starting the engine with no belt, that noise, squeak was gone when i adjusted valves so i thought it was pushrods against the guideplates,it was terrible,so ..i ended up swapping heads which leaded me to a cam intake roller rockers headers swap as well ....LOL
