You never know, it might hold for a little while. Depends how nutty it hooks.

4,400 WOW You'd better put one hell of a transmission cooler in that thing John. The fluid slip will really heat things up fast

I thought Frank was going to include one in my rebuild, but he forgot to

Haven't seen my toasted TCI converter yet which he promised to UPS to me either (double   )

Wheelsup hits the high 1.4's going out of memory with a fairly similar set-up... however he's running a th350, MR L98, and probably has a bit more hp than John, but not much.... in addition Wheelsup is probably a few hundred lbs lighter than John.... but I think John can challenge the 1.4's too, will be interesting.

My goof off guess is... in good air on a sticky track I think a great pass for John will be... 1.48 60 ft, 11.1 @ 119 mph...... thats fast, especially for a stock short block LT-1 !!!! I think the 10's are reachable, but you might need to shed a little weight to do it. You also might need to retire your 700R4 and/or Dana 44..... but dunno, I'm going to run it on the simulator in a little bit.

Good luck John !!! can't wait to hear the results.

Al, I'm also worrierd about heat. I've got BIG trans cooler to put back in the front this time and I'm installing a lock up switch fpor alittle more control.

Todd, Ya should be interesting. I wanted to go with the 4400 last year when I had it apart but I listened to to many people instead of doing what I thought was best. I getting to old to pull this trans on my back every few months so a 4400 it is.
Your right about the weight. Phils car is ALOT lighter than mine. Last time I ran I was at 3480 with me in the car. So I guess we'll see what happens.
I too hope the rear holds up.

John try some B&M quick shift, The stuff really works. I had a 89 S-10 with a T-5 five speed. It was grinding second gear I thought I'd try the blue stuff once before she gave up the ghost. Well I got another 70,000 out of her. the body was falling off the frame, but that tranny still shifted like silk!!!

cause PI's only have STR of 2.1-2.3, yanks got em up to 3.0, the yanks have every feature and better than PI, and you even get the free stall change like PI. same price too, ive rode in a car we switched a yank for a PI, and it has a better kick, AND the yank is lighter, which means less rotating mass, which in turn means less driveline shock (longer tranny and rear end life)

I'm not sold.... the torque multipliers advertised are based upon different manufacturers different ideas of what it means. I believe the Yank is probably a great converter, but for me to consider making the switch from the PI (And I will if it is truly superior to the PI Vigalante), I need additional test results vs it has a better street kick to it.

Sell me !! :)

I've had great luck with the PI. It performance is super as a street/strip converter. I see no reason to switch.

For obvious reasons I also hang out on the LS1.com fourm and we have a nice "driveline" board going there...check it out for lotsa converter talk.......I keep hanging out there especially because I am planning to swap a converter into the LS1 convertible and the general sense I am getting is that there are more problems with the Yanks (especially with cars that have heavy torque management like the 01s and up) tha with the PI Vigilantes. Doesn't mean that the Yanks are bad. i believe they are great converters, but they are not quite as "bolt-in" as the PIs
