Default Headers on a 95

This is a very nice car, but when I was young I had a hot rod 57. My question is can I make this car kind of a hot rod with headers, corsa exhaust, just little things nothing major. I've been told that with the computer you can't do anything to change the "computer" has anyone ever put headers on a C4 and was able to drive it after that.
Thank you

Go for the long tube headers. You get more hp out of them compared to the shorty headers.

I really want to get the long tub but up until now my close friends told me that headers would destroy the computer system. I'm not real mechanical so I think I'm going to have to find someone with that talent. You are correct though the shorty headers is not what I want.
Thank you very much,

Ron

my 93 would make your 57 Hot rod feel like a cadillac Yeah you can add headers. get long tubes. throw away the cats. Get a computer tune to wipe out the codes. Just pay a shoppe to pass your emissions and enjoy.

I got to say I agree and a good laugh out of both posts. I just couldn't believe these cars are so delicate and fragile that you can't change them at all.

Thank you

Your car has 2 or 4 oxygen sensors. If you have only 2 (one on each side before catalitic converters) you can do pretty much anything you want if you keep sensors. Keep in mind that removing cat. converters is a federal crime.
If you have 4 and you remove converters you will keep getting code, but car will run the same. Rear sensors don't change anything except reporting about bad converters.

You can safely put a set of LT headers on your 95 and will not have to adjust the computer at all. In my opinion your vette will sound even better with long tube headers and the retaining the stock exhaust rather than adding the corsa system .... but truly this is a matter of personal taste. Corsa makes one of THE best aftermarket exhaust systems for C4. But with LT headers RT high flow cats and my stock 95exhaust, the sound is lower and deeper and I really like it

Nothing really destroys the computer on your 95. If you put a cam in your LT1 like the hotcam kit you will need a retune of the computer to get anywhere the max potential out of the cam.

The computer by the way is completely re-programable; for fuel tables, rpm shift points, etc, etc, you just need to find a tuner who has the tools and the know-how to do so.

I really appreciate this and yes I did know about the law and the converters I see they make some kind of bigger converter to put on but I really had not made it that far yet. I'm just excited to find out from experience that headers can be done. Really I would just like it to have headers I had thought about Corsa but headers were first. It is good to know that the stock mufflers will probably give me a good sound.
Now to know the computer is re-programable that's a big worry out of the way. I feel kind of like I did when I was 18.
Thank you all very much.

Not a problem at all ! I also must say +1 on the Long tubes and stock exhaust. I ran that for a while and it sounded WAY better than my B&B system i put on. The stock exhaust looks amazing, will stop drone on the freeway but will downright sound nasty under full throttle.
