Default Compression test?

Hey Guys, Just did comp test on my 94 vette LT-1 with 75k on it , 170 is the low, 185 high most were 180, is that ok? Or is that 170 to low? Thanks Gary.

170 seems fine but a leak down test at TDC is a more important test.

aren't leakdown tests performed with piston at bottom dead center at the beginning of the compression stroke (both valves closed) ?

driveable for street only...recheck in abt 5k...right now give each cyl ONE shot of motor oil and check compression all to determ rings vs valves going south.

No, at TDC.
You do have to make sure you're at TDC for each cylinder or the air pressure will spin the motor.

I don't even bother with compression checks any more, just leakdowns.

Near or at the top of the cylinder is where most of the wear occurs, as this is where the piston and rings take their beating, seems the most likely spot to have leakage past the rings.
