Default Clear Distibutor Cap

Anybody ever used a clear distributor cap? I was shopping around for a cap to go with my red wires and I ran across these. The cap is mostly hidden anyway on non-opti's but I thought this would be cool looking. I can get a Mr Gasket one with the rotor and coil cover

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CLEAR...item19b8cc1d99

Or buy one with the coil included

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Clear...item5638fef03b

Or even the whole assembly with lifetime warranty

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SBC-B...item4cee6f67e5

Whatcha think?

I've heard of people having a problem with them cracking. It is the type of plastic they use. But regardless, it will look like crap after a while with all the carbon build up inside.

So if I wanna retain the cool look it will be another maintenance item. Hmmmm, maybe red is the way to go after all.

Can't tell about the second item, but #1 and #3 have the clip style hold downs.
You will most likely need the caps with the screw hold downs.

Regardless, it is gonna look like crap after a while. I'd just stick with a solid colored cap.

I didnt really look that closely at them, it was kinda a whim thing. I was gonna check my distributor before ordering. Good catch!

I would buy it. You can see sparks inside, good for diagnosing.

Haha. Would it still look cool when there is a coating of carbon all inside the cap?

Can the carbon be cleaned out of it?

I don't know if it could be cleaned out or not. But seems like a waste of time pulling the cap every so often to clean it. Might as well just replace it with another clear cap instead of cleaning the old one. I'd just go with a solid colored cap and forget about it.
