Default Power Steering Pump Problem....

How much trouble is it to change the power steering pump on a '88 4+3. I just bought one with 20k miles on her. I noticed the pump whines slightly whenever turning while I am going down the road. It doesn't leak a drop and was full when I checked it. The car has set for over 2 years.................thanks

It takes about 5 min to solve your problem. I used the same trick for 15 years for different p.s. problems.
I used that trick when I bought my Cherokee 7 years ago, it was leaking really bad.
I used the same trick today on my 94 Vette.

First, use a turkey baster to siphon all of the old fluid out and then add new fluid.Your old fluid is probably a dark color, greyish, metallic looking color...if it is,keep flushing the old fluid out and add new fluid.

The steering racks on these cars are known to wear down and the fluid becomes a dark metallic color over time.

Also,be sure the serpentine belt isnt cracked everywhere and worn out...that can sometimes cause noise.
