hi all new to forum so please bear with me..i have a stock 1985 L98 w/ doug nash 4+3 man trans.. when i was under the car.. i could see the bottom of the flywheel..i expect i shouldnt be able to..i cant seem to find a part # for a flywheel cover anywhere..this is causing me great distress since now my tranny is making a noise..im hoping its just the throw out bearing..dumb me didnt replace it when i redid the clutch with the help of a mechanic friend...please no haterz replys.. i happen to be ill with a pancreatic disease.. so i want to get this car back out on the road soon , so i can enjoy it while i can...thx all feel free to e-mail me if your reply is too long or in-depth. so 1* is there a cover and 2* what is the part number and where can i find one i.ve tried all major outlets such as midamerican
That cover is long gone...been out of production for several years. I went to Lowe's, bought a piece of sheet metal, and took a piece of cardboard; cut out a semicircle close to the size of the rear main area, then traced the shape of the bell housing. Then I cut out the sheet metal, held it up in place, did a little trimming, marked the bolt holes, and cut out a hole for the nose of the starter. Isn't pretty, but it works...
