C4 in Standing Mile Accel
www.milemarker-1.com
Beautiful day with ~100 cars showing...everything from a Bentley to Carrera GT to 1000 cc go cart to turbo Hayabusa.
Many Corvettes...almost all C6, couple of C5 and one C4-me.
Did three runs before departing with a best of 169 mph..other runs were 168-consistent.
Certainly a different thrill-one that has more attraction than drag racing actually.
A comparison is my car did 170 stock with 3 miles of runup...now it does nearly that in one mile with the mph ticking up consistently.
HP vs aerodynamics-pretty cool.
Two videos:
Run 2 to the front
Run 3 to the rear
They seem to do it every 3 months...for a 100 bucks it was a hoot!
I was looking at the posted results and some of the results were amazing. Eg:
94 Sentra 129mph!
08 VW 130
Mini Cooper 127 (yikes)
some 200+ Hayabusas .... what, do they strap you to the bike so you don't blow off??
I'd like to check this event out sometime.

Cool ride you got.
murray59: The bikes have fairings of course...they just tuck in...the big mph bikes had turbos as did the cars. Top mph car (aside from the jet powered one) was twin rear mount turbo C5 with an LS2 stroker engine (950 WHP). The craziest was a 1000 cc go cart...doing 130 mph. No safety buffer there.
vettme: $100 for the day, I believe some did up to 12 runs. I did 3 as I had another commitment that evening. I figured unless I was tuning my car/adding boost/etc...after three runs my car is set. Very little one can do to eeck out any more MPH. I would certainly do it again-real thrill to test your hp capability against the ultimate dyno-wind resistance. I just need to do upgrades to make it interesting. AFR heads...nitrous...hmm.

Realize in 1 mile you won't hit full 'top speed'...that takes another 1-3 miles...standing mile acceleration is the definition for this distance. Mine was still accelerating-to who knows what. Drag becomes huge issue as it is exponentially increasing at the higher speeds...the C5 Z06 with twin turbo LS2 stroker (950 whp) had top mph for the event...only 204 mph, but they did have many tuning issues. Also note we had ~5-10 mph quartering tailwind and we only ran in one direction so not averaged.
The smaller hp cars were probably close to max velocity. Quite interesting to see what the results were of the different varieties. This is not a spectator sport...cars disappeared over the runway curvature after .5 mile or so.
Mine makes 404 whp on a Mustang Dyno (more on a Dynojet or 480 chp). This engine is prime on rpm rather than torque (peaks at 6800 rpm with redline of 7200...and is matched with gearing for 200 mph at peak-mathematically.
Topspeed is dependant on power and aerodynamics. Standing mile throws in weight because of the acceleration piece-this is just an extended quartermile length.
Thanks for the comments-pretty happy with the car-Corvette's are so flexible.
I think this is the ultimate dyno...

I have been invited to an event at a local air base this weekend, where something similar is to happen.
The run way we have is 5km, 3,2 miles, but I expect some room for braking too
And it sounds as good as any c4 I have heard
A couple of questions:
1. How did you mount the camera in your car?
2. What kind of camera are you using? It had good audio/video quality.
