Where can I purchase the special adapter brackets for the C4 to C5 brake upgrade besides Electro-Dynamics? I'm looking for the best price. Electro-Dynamics wants $280.00 for them. VB & P will not sell just the brackets you must by the whole kit (calipers, rotors.brackets and hardware) from them. Any where else so I can compare prices? I have nothing against E-D if they are the only place that manufactures the brackets alone.
Thanks for your help,
C44EVER
Come on fellow Vetters, being able to stop is almost as important as beng able to accelerate. Is there no place to purchase these brackets besides Electro-Dynamics?

Most folks seem to upgrade from the 12" C4 brakes to the 13" C4 brakes (J55?). I haven't seen many folks go for the C5 brakes. Doug Rippie sells a kit: http://www.dougrippie.com/
I checked the rippie set. They wanted about double just for the brackets as electro-dynamics. If you find a cheaper good quality set, let me know. The Vette brake guys are really missing the boat. Why would I buy the whole setup from them when I can get the idential parts cheaper from other sources. Plus, they won't give you the red z06 calipers, just the gray ones. They have the same cost from GM. Dumb. They would make a killing selling the brackets for $200 a set.
The 13 inch rotor with the GS calipers as a kit is cheaper but the C5 caliper uses a bigger brake pad than the GS just do like I did and pay the outrageous price from electro-dynamics once you see how simple these are you will really know you payed too much.
Thanks for looking guys. I talked to Jeff Kopp at Superior Chevrolet Perf. Parts he said most people are going with the C5 upgrade for the greater stopping peformance over the GS equipment. And the cost (even with the Electro-Dynamics brackets) is cheaper.

I've driven both, and C5 brakes are a big improvemnt over even the sport brakes on the late C4's. When the cash flow becomes more plentiful, there will be some C5 brakes on my car.
Just FYI, there was a discount on the C5 brake conversion in the store section of the forum. I believe they were at about 900 dollars.
For those that would be interested, I checked and Electro-Dynamics would give a group purchase price to any given kit part number, as long as there were a minimum buy of 10 sets of that part number. As most discussion has been of 1988-96, this would be BF004 or BF005.
They would offer a 18% discount for 10 sets, or 25% on 20 sets. The only requirements are that they must be the same kit number. and at least 10 sets in the group.
If this group purchase package for the C5 kit cost less than $1000 and if you have the 12" front brakes, IMHO, this is a great deal. But if you already have the 13" C4 brakes, the $2,200 Doug Rippie/Wilwood package that moves the stock 13" fronts to the rear and upgrades the fronts to 13" 6 piston calipers might be worth checking out.

Re: C4 to C5 brake upgrade (gene284)
Does this conversion only work with certain wheel style/sizes? I'm swapping over to the CE/ZR-1 5-spoke style (8.5" front & 9.5 rear"). Is this going to cause a problem?
The fact that they are 17inch is a plus. I don't really know which wheels will clear, and which will not. However there is a thread already by Scorp508 concerning whether or not wheels will fit.
Electro-Dynamics is more than willing to demount their display knuckle/brake assemblies and try them on respective wheels. You could find a forum member in Ohio with the same wheels to come by.
It might be easier in your case, as this is a popular wheel, to see if any C5 owners on the forum are running this wheel. If it fits on their car, it should fit with Electro-Dynamics adapters.
C44EVER and DonM should perhaps cordinate and decide which kit you are desiring to persue as a group purchase. Should we start this as a new thread?
I would love to get something going, but, I haven't a clue as to how to do a group purchase. C44ever has a '91 according to his Bio. I guess we are talking late C4.
