I don't believe that there is enough material, regardless of year, to get the flow that an aftermarket base will deliver. If you wleded up the roof, and made a raised runner, you might get close and end up w/a better head entry angle.

You can get them to 1.7 or so but it takes a lot of doing especially if you go all the way through which you really need to make a difference.

I can't find it right now, but there is an article where someone tested all different intakes on the tpi. One thing they did was test an extrude honed factory intake base, and it performed ALMOST as well as the TPIS. I think others have ported it by hand, so you should be able to get similar results. I've been thinking about it, because all the base intakes are around $500!

I had one that was a GM base, and the guy that bought it had the accel one also, he compared, and they were the same. You can port the after market a little more, but on a stock 350 motor or even bigger, I doubt that tiny bit you would ever feel, might show up on a dyno, but IMO it would really only show on a flow bench which doe not really mean too much when you get to that point.

In short save your money and port like nuts, or buy a used one someone did already.

In this article they compared a stock tpi to an extrude honed base with large runners. Not exactly what you are talking about, but fwiw http://www.compcams.com/Community/Ar...?ID=1737510521

It will run at least 300-400 to have a pro do your stock base to that extent probably more. Its a royal pita and extremely time consuming should you go though it too far in where you cant weld it the manifold is junk be careful. Id look for a used aftermarket base and do some cleanup work if you had to.

I didn't correct his grammar boys. Might want to look that one up. A little punctuation and spelling would be nice. If you get a red line under a word it means something is amiss!
