It looks like I will need a new water pump. the dealer wants $169 for a new unit. The local parts stores (napa, pepboys, etc) want $50-$60 for a new unit. Why the big differance in Price.
I just put a new Stewart water pump on my 87 vette, $104 to my door. It has 41% more gph and keeps my engine cool idling, the factory pump wouldn't. Just sitting idling, the fan came on at 217 F and went off at 210 F. The factory pump didn't pump enough coolant at idle and the fan would come on and the temp would stabilize around 230. Go to the stewart web site and see why your replacement should be a Stewart. http://www.stewartcomponents.com
