Default My Vette dies when it warms up. Help!

I have a 95 with an LT-1. When it reaches around 180 degrees it dies an will not restert till it cools off. A quick check shows I'm not getting a spark. I replaced the Opti-Spark unit less than 10,000 miles ago and once this problem started i replaced the coil and ICM with no luck. I'm getting trouble codes H16 H77 H78 H34. Any help will be apperciated.

I just completed an opti change, mine was throwing a code 16 and 36. Pretty much same symptoms, once it warmed up it just died and no restart till it cooled off. New opti is in along with electric water pump and she runs great. I noticed I wasn't getting the refrence signal to the ignition control module once it died and wouldn't restart, I can't remember which pin that is, I'll look in my book once I have another cup of coffee.

Does the engine just die or does it do anything else prior to dieing?

My 95 had a heat problem....threw the OptiSpark codes. Changed it twice only to find out that it was the ECM.

Something you might try is to insulate the ECM with at thermal blanket, but only for troubleshooting...not driving. I also used a heat gun on the ECM and the engine stopped prior to the coolant temp getting hot.

Just things you might try.

That code 16 means the opti is not sensing the low pulse and there is your problem. That little sensor inside is bad and acts up when it gets hot. I had something very similar with my '92 and my MSD opti was only 1000 miles old!!! MSD told me there was a bad sensor and it can be rebuilt for around $100. I had a bad opti from MSD. I bought a new opti since old one was out of warranty. I installed it last weekend and no more issues. I have driven several hundred miles since. I'm gonna keep the rebuilt one for my '93 when it gets sick. Good luck!
