I purchased a 700R4 from someone here and need to swap it with the original. I have located a shop that is willing to do the change for $400. Just wondering if this is a good price. The last tranny I did was in a 72 and I seem to remember that it took about 5 hours from start to finish.
If anyone has done an R&R I would appreciate info on how long and anything that I should look for if I do it myself.
I've got mine down to 1 hr to drop the tranny (including jacking and jackstands and 2 hours to replace). This is a race car though, and has next to no exhaust. I also do this many times a year so I know what tools to use and how to do it. 5 hours for the first time seems right. Do it yourself, save $400, learn some and make sure it is right. That'll buy you a pretty good set of tools!
