AC problem
Ok I need help trouble shooting my AC. When I first had it the air it blew out was cold. Then it started to get cold here in florida so I had the heat going. Will now I got no cold air beside the air coming into the car from the open windows.
I now my AC is atleast 20 years old. Unsure if anything has been replace in the 4 months of me owning it.

What have you done thus far to systematically diagnose it?
Have you done a visual inspection of the parts looking for unplugged wires or damage/leaks?
Have you confirmed there is refrigerant in the system?
Checked the high or low pressure switches?
Have you reviewed the troubleshooting tree in your service manual?
We need more information to better help you, help yourself.
If you are unsure, or unable to do any or all of the above, I would suggest taking it to a professional shop. You can be injured when dealing with refrigerants, if you are unsure of what you are doing.

You need to put gauges on it and know what the numbers mean. I would have a profession shop look at it unless you know AC. It can get pretty involved.

Is the system throwing any codes?

Start by hooking up a manifold gauge to your service ports to check your pressures and compressor cycles, if r12 is low look for leaks, any black oil spots around all o-ring connections.

Beside looking at each piece to the AC system I see nothing wrong. I need to clean my engine because it full of dust. If you did not catch that with all the dust there is no wet spot to be seen so no oil leaks. I look at my books and all I can make out of it is I need a OBD1 computer.
Now as to see how much refrigerant I got is going to have to wait till I get paid to buy the part to read it.
Ill look into see about the clutch in the morning. Thinking back on this matter I can seem to recall if it comes on or not.

Checking for codes is the first step anyone should take when trouble shooting.

Is the clutch engaging to turn the compressor?
Answer is no. The clutch is not spinning. So what is my next step? (If it buy a new clutch just say it, if I need to trouble shoot more to make sure it the clutch what is the next step.)

If the clutch is not engaging, do not go buy one yet!
Follow the instructions above. The system is capable of doing a self diagnistic. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, take it to a shop. Period.
Odds are you are low on freon, but before doing anything else, either do the self check or take it to a shop.
I said it twice for a reason. Those are your 2 best options so that you are not throwing parts and money at this only to find out it was something cheap and easy.

To find the leak,you are going to need some tools you probably don't have. You could borrow them if you have a friend who has them and knows how to use them. If not , save your money and have an A/C guy do it for you.

This is suspicious.If you are still running R12 it will be expensive to fill it and you don’t want to waste any. An A/C shop will fill it and find any leaks. Then you will know where you are. Besides, you can't but R12. And it is also very rare to have no gas in a system even with a leak. Even if the low pressure switch will not close due to low pressure, there is usually some static pressure in the system.
I am not sure if your test results are accurate and think a knowledgeable tech would be beneficial to you.
