It's not.
Life is getting in the way. Took the boy to an amusement park yesterday for his birthday. Today, spend ALL day doing chores; yard work, pressure washed the garage and driveway, washed the boat and Caddy, cleaned the house, and so on. Didn't touch the 'Vette this weekend and that is a bummer. It was ~70*-75* and absolutely crystal clear, perfect weather. I should have been driving it, or something.

I think I went 3 weeks without driving the car. Last night at 7:30 I told my wife "I'm going out with the other woman, I'll see you in about an hour."

Get those chores done yet?
Just browsing through I found this thread again, thought I would bring it to the top.

Finally got to it last night. It won't work...practically.
The Early C4 backing plate/caliper bracket is too thin to use on the late C4. The early one is about 1-7/32" thick. The Later caliper bracket is about 1-15/32" thick. So youd have to fabricate a spacer that is about 1/4" thick, and matches the I.D. of the backing plate, and the flange on both sides. Easy, if you have a machine shop.
The other problem is the the caliper bracket on the late car is spaced about 1/2" out, from the knuckle. On the early, it's spaced flush w/the back side flange. So even if you fabb'ed your 1/4" spacer to go between the backing plate and the knuckle, your caliper would still be offset ~1/4" too far inward. Not sure how this would work, using the C5 caliper and rotor, but the C5 rotor has a similar offset to the C4 rotor; they're only about 1/8" different and the C5 is further out -toward the hub. I didn't mock up the C5 rotor and caliper b/c it would be difficult to w/o the 1/4" spacer...and I'm probably not going to fab that spacer. If I had access to a machine shop, I would, but all I have is a lathe and drill press.
Sorry for the much delayed update!

I am going down this road as you know Tom on my C4 Coupe. I have a more unique problem than you as I have to adapt a Rear brake system to my Ford 9" It has been sugested to me that I look into an F-body rear Rotor assembly, or go aftermarket. The more I looked into it, I think an aftermarket two piece rotor is the right way to go. Get a rotor that is slotted and vented, and a hat that will allow for the internal Parking brake. Hard part for me is to make a backing plate that will work on the Ford 9". Hopefully this weekend I am going to start laying out in CAD the part I have inmind that will work. One I do, I will post it up and let you check it out first hand. I want to be able to have the E-Brake option on the coupe just in case.....

I have a thought, do you a bracket to bolt the C5 caliper to the C4 knuckle? Assuming you do, you could use that to put the caliper the final 1/4" out to the rotor.
Tachout...you're definiltey into different territory than I. I agree about the later F-bod caliper brackets as a good place to start.
Sorry old thread, found it searching google, lots of good info. Will te part pictures interchange between c4 and c5? I have a c5 wanting 15s for drag strip use and mine won't clear. LG make a drag spindle but this is a hell of. A lot cheaper alternative?
