Default How do I remove the plenum?

How do I remove the plenum to paint or have chromed or just shine up with steel wool and aluminum polish? Do I need gaskets etc, when I put it back on? Any help would be appreciated. Is this a 2 hour job to take it off or is there more involved? Thanks in advance.

No it's not a 2hr. job. Remove the connector under the rear of the plenum for the idle air control also remove the vacum hard line at the rear corner of the plenum. Remove the torx bolts on both sides of the plenum holding the runner tubes on. Take the bracket off the plenum that holds the cables going to the throttle body. Remove the throttle body from the plenum and set it aside. If it's a 90 or later you will also have to unhook the MAP sensor connector on the right rear of the plenum. Remove the torx head bolts on the runners at the intake base on both sides. There are 4 torx head bolts that are kinda tuff to see that come in from opposite sides on the intake manifold itself that hold the runners to the intake that need to come out also. Then they will loosen up pretty much so you can seperate the tubes away from the plenum to remove it. If you're real careful you wont hurt the gaskets. 45 MIN. job max GOOD LUCK Pipe if you do ruin the gaskets GM sells the kit that includes the plenum and runner gaskets along with the TB and intake gaskets
