4L80E Transmission Install?
Has anyone successfully installed a 4L80E tranny into a C4? I'm running a 700R4 right now, but not for much longer. I've heard alot of folks discussing various retrofits, but I haven't seen any mention of the 4L80E.
From what I understand, the 4L80E is basically a Turbo 400 with an overdrive (and also rated for big horsepower). If this is the case, surely someone has attempted this install rather than endlessly diddling with 700R4's.
Any chance it fits? Thanks :chevy

Hay Rome, check out this thread from the archived section. There is a shot of a 4l80e going into a c4. You could also check out my web site. I have a page dedicated to converting to the th400 with a Gear Vendors overdrive on it. This is more expensive than a 4l80e. But you get 6 gears to choose from. And it is arguably stronger than a 4l80e. And if it does not hold up it is cheaper to rebuild. So far my conversion project is going well. I am having a bit of difficulty getting the c-beam to work.
