Default Idle RPM Question?

Is 500 RPM too low for idle in drive at normal operating temperature 180 - 190 degrees? The engine seems to almost want to stall but doesn't. I'm getting 600 to 700 RPM in neutral. If 500 is too low, how do I increase it? I was under the impression that the idle RPM speed was not adjustable. Thanks for any advice and input.

Mine idles at around 520 to 550 in gear and around 650 at idle (park). I adjusted it last summer as it was running at 1000 in park and was way to high. There is an idle adjustment screw on the driver side of the throttle body. I forget the procedure but it describes it pretty well in the shop manual. It is not very difficult. I'm sure someone on the forum will know the procedure off the top of their head...

I thought that this procedure only applied to 1985's? Am I incorrect?
