I guess I should introduce myself in my first post, so my name is Eddie. I actually own a LS1 trans am, not a vette, but my father does and we could use a little help from time to time. So where better to turn than Corvette Forum?
Now to the point, my father's car is a 1991 and has turned on the ses light. Everything I have found on the web so far indicates that it should have a connector in the same location as a OBD1/2 system. On his car this is simply not the case, we even dropped the lower dash panel to see if a previous owner moved it for some reason, and have yet to find it. I looked all around the console and can't find it there either.
I know what I'm looking for but for the life of me can't find it and neither can his mechanic. Is there something we are missing here?
Yes I am looking for the ALDL and so far no luck around the driver's knee. I'll go over there tonight and try again. I know the previous owner basically had the dash gutted to do a stereo system so it's hard to tell what was done when it was put back together.
Well we finally found it. It was tucked up underneath the gauge cluster. We got it dug out of there and it is showing a code 32. Now I'm off to figure out how to fix it. Thanks for your help fellas.
Were this an LT1... (maybe the same for an L98 too?)
Test the HVAC door. Does it move to direct air out of the vent that is selected? IE Defrost, Top Bottom
Does the cruise control work?
If not then suspect the vaccum line that supplies vaccum to the EGR valve, the HVAC door, and cruise control.
I understand that r&r of the EGR on an L98 is no picnic but that would be the next step. (or test it with a vaccum hand pump with gauge) It may be fouled with carbon etc and is not opening or closing quickly enough or not at all.
