Solar Load Sensor Short
I didn't get the opportunity to check the sensor today. The weather was dark and cloudy and I didn't have a flash light near by. Will try it later and cover it up!

Rough cutting

Cut

Rough cut done, there are four.
Cut to 33 mm
Need to drop to 24mm and then cut to fit from there, adjust 3 remaining -0.05mm each for pick fit.

Ummmm...
I'm having a problem sizing the lens cover.
Since mine has that black "nipple" cover, I can't size the lens to fit. The black nipple sticks up too much.
Can you reach in and feel if the white "nipple" is reccessed below top of the opening?
My black "nipple" comes even with the top off the dash...hence the problem.
Ahhhh dude....I just did the easiest fix for this...took 2 minutes.
Check your PM.
I'll have to remove my sensor altogether to get it sized.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I got the skinny from Vette2vette.

He's got your part $25.00, plus he said he'd charge acutal shipping.
He takes CC's.
I can arrange it, I'll pay him and have it shipped, and you pay me Via Paypal or something if you have a problem with out of the country payment??
I cannot find this part anywhere else.
He also stated that he has seen people just take a permanate marker and black it out. The black cap does let some light thru, so completely occluding it won't work.
It's a dual sensor..measures inside car temp and measures light for dash dimming purposes.
I'm having a problem making a cap that will extend over the top of the nipple, at least on mine with the black cap on it. I don't really feel like taking mine apart and possibly breaking it, then I'm buying a new one like you.....lol.
Let me know.
In the meantime, I'll continue to think about a way for me to get this done...possibly using two lenses adhered together with the bottom inside one cut-out in the middle to make room for the nipple?? I'll keep thinking.
At least this is a small issue and not one preventing you from drving your car.

So He have the black dome thingie to put over everything?
Vette2vette won't sell just the cap...

The rear (closest to you) of the vent that has the sensor lifts up, it has three tabs..middle, right, left, and then just pops up and out. The sensor is connected with four wires. Release the tabs on the connector and it comes off easy. They made it easy because the connector wires are long enough to pull the whole unit towards you w/out problems. You're looking at 10 minutes to replace this. I didn't want to take mine out in fear of breaking the wire connector tabs...they get brittle after 20 years.
Anyway, I'll fire you aniother PM about costs etc.
I just lifted the vent grille, gently, which the sensor sits in.
Could pull everything a little closer to me thanks to the length of the cables.
I separated the cables with at the connector, it was pretty hard to pull apart.
It's only two cables what I can see. Not four.
Question:
Are you sure this sensor both measures light AND temp? It that possible with only two wires or is it a combination of both? I mean, if the sun light generates temperature in the end maybe?
Here is a picture after I mounted the new one. The old one, missing the black cap, is on top

Thank you so much for sending me this sensor!
The connector end looks different than mine..Your new one is red, mine is very small and gray...ltr year I guess?
I hear you about it being snug, I tried to take mine off and gave up cause I didn't want to break the connector. At least SOMEONE thought about the wire length and made it easier to replace...which is unusal for a vette.
I honestly don't remember how many wires ( 2 or 4 ) mine has, I'll go look this weekend.
I was told by Vette2vette about temp AND sunlight, I was just repeating what they told me, do idk really.
Does this solve your code problem?
let me know if you need any parts in the future if you have problems finding them or getting them shipped to you, I'll be glad to get it/them to you.
James
