Default tranny adjustment question

I just had my tranny rebuilt with a TCI kit with kevlar cluthes, and 2600 Yank Converter and new planetary gears. When I go to put it in gear its like someone kicks you in the a s s. Then when you floor it, it just goes doesnt down shift and shifts way too quickly. I mean shifts one right behind the other doesnt let me go through the power band. Is this a TV cable adjustment problem or is it something internal? If it is an adjustment how where and how much. I need as much help as possible this think is really pissin me off. If it keeps it up I am buying a FORD!!!

you're comlaining about fast shifting?!?!

Not really sure on that TV cable crap. I just know that lots of problems can be adjusted with it (and with keeping your tranny fluid level good :) ).

Hell i wouldnt complain if I still had a little torque left but at .70 to 1 torque is out the window. Ran a guy today i should have blown the doors off of but he hung for a little while. I cant have that even if i have to pull the tranny again.

Yes, the place to start is with the TV cable adjustment. Just read your service manual and follow the instructions. It requires a inch pound torque wrench, a 1/8 in drill bit and a little more time then the pre ASR versions do.

The TV (throttle valve) cable adjustment will have minimal effects on the shift points. All that cable does is let the trans know how far advanced the throttle is. It controls the internal trans oil pressure. It has MUCH more affect on the shift qualty, than shift points. The shift points are controlled by the governor. As quick as you are describing the shifts, I think there is something wrong with the governor. Although inside the trans, it is accessable without removing the trans. There are re-calibration kits available, but I would swing by the rebuilder's and let him take a test drive. Something may be binding inside, preventing proper operation. Good luck.
