i had a post about some oil burning but then i realized i forgot to ask this.
i have recently bough my first 88, l98, cam, bored heads, exaust, ect.
the owner told me he's been using 10/30 mobile 1 synthetic ?
does this sound like the best choice of the type of oil to be using in this car ?
let me know, thanks

The 1988 manual did not call for synthetic oil, but Mobil 1 is fine. I use 5w-30 syn blend in my 1989. Mobil 1 is the recommend oil in LT1 engines. I have found no need for full synthetic in my L98.
It sounds like the engine was rebuilt, new bearings at least. You have no idea how close the tolerances were set selecting an oil viscosity is almost a crap shoot. If the previous owner was using 10/30 Mobile and it worked I would stay with it. Don't try to fix something that is not broke.
well i noticed it burns oil, iv owned it about 2 months and iv already had to add a quart.
so i wondered if it was cause of using 10/30 mobile 1 synthetic.
the 88 owners manual doesnt say synthetic.
its a l98, automatic, cam, port heads, full exaust.
thanks all
