Well getting ready to get long tube headers, y-pipe and not installing cat. converter and putting mufflers on. What else should I buy for more power and better strip times? I'm also going to get 3:55 or 3:73 gears. Should i get a cam,BBK throttle body 52mm or 58mm? I just don't know what I should install for better strip times. I would like a car I could go cruising in but also have fun with on the strip.

If you have an auto be careful of steep gears they can slow you down in the 1/4 mile. On a 1986 iron head there are many improvement you can make. Heads and cam will make the most improvement. You need to decide if you want to keep the stock TPI and go from there.

I thought only verts had aluminum heads in 1986. Anyway, gears will be a good mod on the 4+3 also 1.6 full RR's and a higher lift cam will be good.
If you have the 128 aluminum heads they aren't bad but of course better heads will help a lot. Just depends on your budget and goals.
Going to get the exaust done this week. Is it better to have true duals without cat. converter with mufflers or to have a y-pipe with out cat.converter.

If you install duals get a crossover or X pipe for balance. For performance without a lot of resonance I would get duals with an X pipe and good dual outlet mufflers.
