I'm installing my first miniram and found the back of it hardly covers the china wall. Is that normal for all MR's? Here is a picture:
I having my neighbor weld some extra metal on there!
The next thing I noticed is that the fuel rails have large weld spots on them. My car isn't a show car so I don't plan to do anything about it. I'm just surprised they are like that since so many people really are interested in how the engine bay looks. TPIS charges $370 for these. Here's a picture:
My stock rail is on the right. As you can see they are almost the same rail. I'm guessing they reuse rails from some other car. I would be curious what car they are from. Has anyone used different rails or cleaned up the welds? I think the stock plug thing looks better then a big weld blob.

I ground out the notch for the oil sender and that let the mini slide back farther. It also let the ports line up better. Other than that my mini went on very nice. Got me .3 in the 1/4 mile. You are going to love it.
I kept having a fuel leak on the straight o-ring fitting for fuel input on the passenger side rail. The TPIS o-ring would squish out and not seal. I tried several then I ordered my own o-rings. -015 was to big. -014 was the size they had on there. -013 was slight smaller and fit very well. It seated in and there are no leaks!
Have you sold the super ram? why did you diside to change to the mini? Is the car back to runnin....if so how do you like the way it runs vs the SR?
Yes I sold it locally awhile ago. I got tired of taking the SR apart so I switched to the much easier MR. I tear my engine down to often. Also I wanted more RPM HP. The car had enough torque to spin the tires all over but lost out on the top end. I spend a lot of time at WOT on track so I thought it was a better fit all around.
The car is back running and it doesn't seem to have less go off the line. I plan to do some drag racing pretty soon and I'm signed up for a road track event the eng of August.

Where are you shifting the mini? You still have the stock rotating assembly correct?
what size cam are you runnin in your motor again? Im interested to see what the change will be at the track! I love the low end fun to much so thats why i went with the SR but i agree workin on it SUCKS. subed for more performance info!

I traded my door panels for a new hot cam.
I'll get some times on it soon. It really pulled hard off the line!
I just did some data logging and it was pulling so nice I bumped it off the 6,300 RPM cut out I put on this chip. :o
Cool! Sounds like a strong runner! I read over your engine thread and you went with stock crank and new rods correct? Was the crank undercut at all or are you still using std bearings?

My builder just needed to polish the crank. I did reuse the stock crank but bought 6" rods. In regards to your question above, piston speed on the stock parts will be to high. Give it a try maybe it will last.
