replaced injectors when i got it since they were bad, now a couple months later no fuel pressure. ive never drivin the car aside from moving it around and on and off the trailer. i just put a new pump in it to try that, but still nothing at the fuel rail fitting pressure wise. factory manual says fuel filter is on left frame rail, but i know thats not right. where the hell is it? problem is its dead in the middle of the driveway and not on a lift. cars not exactly built to shove a floor jack under. can i even get to the filter? anyway, when i turn the key on, i hear 3 sort of pulse sounds from the rear, is that the pump kicking on? is it possible the pulsator that i didnt replace is blocking fuel? i stuck a meter in the connector for the pump and got 10 volts out of the second form bottom pin, and i think liuke 1 volt from the 2 upper pins might be wrong on that though. car has a fuel pump relay just laying on the stock one, i dont remember if i tried switching them back and forth after pumpreplacement.
Filter on the left side if you are facing the front of the car....or passenger side is a better description. You should jack it up to get to the filter.
You could take the fuel line off at the tank....add a 3-4 foot of regular rubber line and have someone turn the key to ON and see if anything is pumped out of the hose. If it is dry...go back to the pump and check it out.
Here is the schematic for 89, should help you diagnose the electrical.
Are you sure your gauge is reading the pressure correctly ?
If you push on the schrader valve pin, does any fuel shoot out ?
If you apply 12 volts to terminal "G" on the ALDL connector, the pump should run, until power is removed.
yeah theres nothing at the schrader valve. if i can find my jumper wires ill hit the g pin not sure where i left them. fuel filter in the rear or the front of the car? its dead on the brich portion of my driveway so jacking will be entertaining. i had the thought that possibly the bad injectors might have takin out the ecm. number three was a dead short car owuldnt run with it connected. now i have to fix the clothes dryer on top of the car. idler pulley on the belt just nuked itself
You will have to take off the X brace also to get to the filter, I did on my 89 convertible. One fuel line nut came loose easily, the other not so much. I had to take it to a mechanic who used an air hammer to shock it then it came loose. The strap that holds it on the frame is a PITA to get back on. I took the bolt right out, if you can loosen the filter without completely removing the strap bolt, I recommend it.
damn thing started yesterday on its own. couldnt get it moved due to other dead cars in the way. neighbor has a 4 post lift but im lesry trying to drove it the quarter mile up his drive in case it dies again.
