Speed Demon sent me a SPEC stage III carbon fiber clutch/new pressure plate/new throw out bearing/alignment tool for like $500.00 shipping included. But these are fancy schmancy clutches. A replacent for stock can be had for like $200.00ish at Autozone. The flywheel is a whole other matter tho. I bought a used dual mass flywheel off a 40k mile wrecked vette for $200.00
Like what kinda plans do ya have for driving? Daily? Autocross? Drag racing?
Not at all this clutch is supposed to hold 800hp. I have an LT1 it had a dual mass flywheel. Dual mass flywheels cannot be resurfaced and the dealer wants $800 (list) for one I got the flywheel for $450 and the clutch for like $470.
Matt I dont have 800hp Its just supposed to hold 800 hp. my car makes "maybe" 340 at the rear wheel's I'm not really sure I havent had it on a dyno. But I've been thru 2 clutches in 2 years so I'm praying it will hold my measly gestamated 340hp. :seeya
whoa, what brands where the other clutches?? did you race alot??
one was just a remanufactured the orther was from GM. I like to go to the strip atleast once a month, sometimes more. I also like to take it out to waterford hills every now and then and run around the roadcourse.
If that's the case, then I wouldn't go with anything more extreme than the SPEC stage II. That's what I have and it's going onto my stroker LT4. It will still hold great if you decide to add a few mods (and judging from your other posts I assume you are), but it's not much different from stock. Also look at the Mcleods.
hopefully a 1990 6spd w/80k miles, he said the clutch is going out, and i wanted to find out how much they cost...
Here is the best deal out there. AutoZone sells the factory clutch and pressure plate for $249 w/ lifetime warranty. This the exact same clutch that GM sells. It's the Valeo clutch and pressure plate with the same numbers as on the GM parts.
I'm am currently running one in my nitrous ZR-1 and it works great. No need to spend one extra dollar on the aftermarket clutches.
Also, unless you have 150k mile on the car you don't need a new flywheel. just deglaze it with a scotchbrite wheel and install the new clutch.
