No i havent. it does have a stumble able 2500rpms just cruzing down the highway and almost no power about 5000rpms
Well somethings wrong with it. See if you can get a scan on it and start from there. Get that problem solved then toss on the headers/gears and youll like the car a whole lot more. Should be smooth from idle to redline. A bigger converter will make a nice difference too but first things first
Do you have any transmision fluid leaking from the converter area? In nursing my neglected 94 back to health with similar mileage the 2 biggest problems around performance was not very obvious.
The biggest problem was the front pump seal and bearing in the transmission had worked loose. I found it chasing leaks but in hindsight it was really only showing itself when it was close to rev limiter and I thought it was normal. Second biggest thing affecting performance was the MAF sensor.
There is a list of other things a mile long at this point, some just needed maintenance....some the mod bug.
That all being said get yourself a set of factory service manuals (the red ones) and the folks on this forum are a wealth of knowledge.
well i am comparing it to stock camaro's that i have had. There just isnt very much seat of the pants pull in this car.
All I can say, is that a few friends of mine have cars I've ridden in many times which I was pretty certain were going to beat my 92 6spd. The gearing is SO long (compared to what I'm used to) and the power delivery is so different than what I'm used to...low and behold though we went on a cruise and I pulled on both of them. Go figure....
ill keep that in mind, im going to find another housing and just swap it that way when i get the gears in.
And it will barely spin the tires from a stop...at a 10 mph roll. NOPE not happaning.
I think you really need to check the gear codes, than post your rpms at highway speed. The thing sounds like a perfectly fine 2.59 highway gear crap set up.(maybe some one blew the rear, and swapped a used one)
Mine would burn the tires from a stop when I got it, but not with out trying, this is by far the slowest fun car I have ever had. (nothing a little money can't change)
the car has never been taken apart. I think its just bad gas which i will find out for sure today when i get the tank out. Also can i look on the case and see what the gears are supposed to be?
It sounds like a fuel issue to me. If the car has been sitting dormant for awhile, and it sounds like it has, I'm sure the gas in the lines varnished. This trouble is air, spark, fuel related and it seems that the air and spark have been addressed.
I've heard where the "seafoam" treatment has helped with this. Did it in mine once, but with diligent maintence she was already pretty clean.
A higher ratio in the rear will definitely help acceleration. But don't be so hasty to think that the f-bodies are peppier. I had an LS1 Camaro before the LT4 and experienced the same question as far assometer. But the suspension differences are dramatic. At 140 in the Camaro I thought I was going to die. At 140 in the Vette it was like a Sunday cruise (with alot more left in her).
PROBELM FOUND!!! So took the fuel pump out today and well the tank didnt even smell like gas. Lots of water (bad gas). I drained the tank put new gas with treatment for the lines in it. Changed fuel filter. Then did the seafoam. Now im going to pull the injectors.
i like submerse my injectors in chem-dip overnight, but fic will rebuild them dirt cheap.or you could upgrade to bosch 3.its one of the few upgrades you can do affordably with theses cars,at least that will make a real difference.
but in stock form,IMO,c-4s are not that fast.they do make great hobby cars though, and they are hard to beat when it comes to handling.

The fuel pump could be on its way out too, check fuel pressure at the rail.
You said a mile high where a you at and what's your altitude. When I was in Colorado Springs my vette accelarated significatantly slower than it did at sealevel.... 6500 ft in altitude will remove about 20% of your horsepower.
A couple of years ago I got about a quart of water in my tank from a local filling station, it ruined my fuel pump (at least it went out shortly after the water in the tank) so if you drain all the gas and still have trouble you should check fuel pressure too.
