Transgo is sounding good, and the transnission shop suggested I ask around about which stage is good for everyday use. Do you have a suggestion for a stage?

B&M is very popular, and cheap, transgo is supposed to be good, but is at least 2 times the price, if not 3 depending where you get it.

You will get mixed results from both sides of the fence, but IMO it all comes down to the installation.

Yea I've esearched B&M and altough it appears to be a good kit, everyone where I go transgo seams to be the top pick.

The transgo 700 2&3 is not a shift kit. It is a reprogramming kit that makes permanent changes to your trans case, and valve body. If you install it, and love it, great. If not, you will have to learn to love it,
It is geared for professional installation during a complete overhaul, to maximize the parts and performance of the entire kit.
If you install it yourself, and have technical problems, Transgo will not help you, they will tell you you should not have installed it for the reasons mentioned.
With that said, it works well in all model years except 1993. On a difficulty scale of 1-10 it is an 8 1/2, and requires special tools.

B&M works pretty well in spite of what you read on the internet. I have many 10 second cars running them with no issues at all. This includes my own car with more miles than I will admit to on a public forum. I installed mine in 1992. Only 18 years of testing.
B&M is probably a 3 on a difficulty scale of 1-10, and does not require special tools to install. If you don't like it, remove it easily.

Choice is yours, but keep in mind other companies make them too.

Same here, I asked shops, and they all tried to sell me the more expensive one, I bought the B&M for like $less than $50.
As compared to the $180 the shops wanted just for the trango plain shift improver kit.

Watch the size of the DRILL BIT. First to Second is a real neck snapper.
Sometimes the downshift in Drive from third to first is a real jolt.

Over all, a good product.

I put the Transgo kit in my daily driver El Camino and it is too harsh but like PeteK said, I had to learn to live with it. For competition it is one of the best, for every day street use the B&M is more than adequate. Also as PeteK said if you call Transgo for help they will tell you you had no business attempting the install.
