Default could use some help.

I have a 93 coupe, have owned the car for 9 years.
This year I first noticed the cruise was hunting on me.
Then I noticed the speedo has not holding a constant speed.
Today I drove the car for about a mile before the speedo started to work at all.
So far I have checked the wiring to the VSS and the connectors to the ECM, everything looks ok.
I did notice oil in the VSS connector so I called to get one and it seems no one has one, anywhere.
Did some checking on a ECM, it seems there are none of these ether, anywhere.
What is going on with support of these cars and does anyone have any ideas about were I should start with my car?
Or am I the owner of a future 3000lb piece of yard art?

i believe that changing the vss is the way to go. its the only part that directly affects the speedo and the cruise control.

You don't say what transmission or gear ratio you have, but the speed sensor can be located here, part number 55X or 55XX.

Contact Louis at acquaauto@aol.com I am told he can rebuild your ECM if necessary, there are others who can do so.

There are many things that can affect the cruise and some items that just don’t make any sense. Servos, cables, vacuum, switches or modules. One of the most common problems with the cruise with drop out, non-engagement or speed changing are the dis-engage switches for the brake pedal or clutch pedal.

If it is a auto, obviously there is only one switch assembly involved, but the brake seems to be the most common one to go bad. The brake unit is a 3 switches in one unit. However the switch contact that relates to the cruise acquires high and varying resistance that causes the cruise to have strange symptoms.

If you actually pull the switch assembly out from the brake side, you can take apart and clean all the contacts. I would measure them first before I cleaned them so you know if a problem is apparent.

If this does not fix it, that are a lot more things that can be checked troubleshoot.
