Cardone is the rebuilder no doubt if NAPA parts. The owners of the company mean well I am sure but they get some things completely wrong in part application and some wrong on assembly. I have a thread about the fitment problems with my brake booster on a 91 and won't duplicate here. My gut feeling is to either have an original part rebuilt by a independant low volume rebuilder or do it yourself if possible.

I'd probably just order the cheapest and measure it and check it out before putting it on the car. autopartstomorrow has an ACDELCO 36-16228 rack for $115 shipped plus core. Don't know if that is the standard or quick ratio steering rack.

No matter what I would keep the original core.... It is the only one you know fits correctly. When you sell the car sell the cores off then.

If the thing leaks, it wouldn't matter if it fits correctly. Especially if you have no means to have it rebuilt locally. Plus, I wouldn't want to keep a steering rack sitting around for years and hope to sell it later on as a core.

Last time I tried to sell a core as I bought a new part instead of a rebuilt, they wouldn't do it. As they said in order to get paid for a core, you have to buy a rebuild. So, I threw the part away.
