Default Misfire= No Gap!

Trying to track down a misfire. I replaced the original cap and rotor and plug wires with no luck. Today I bought some spark plugs. I didn't think they were bad as they don't have many miles on them. Turns out plug number 2 and number 4 had little to no gap!!!

Strange huh?

The only explanation I have is revving hard and rod stretch causing piston to kiss the plug?

Did you drop them trying to put them in?
I only ask, because I did that one time, and luckily I checked, and sure enough the gap was gone.

Sounds like you may have hit the plug b-4 putting it in & not relizing you did it.. Doubt the piston hit it, I think if the piston hit the plug you would not be driving the car.. I could be wrong, just a thought...

I put them in the engine before I dropped the engine in the car so no I don't think I damaged them before. Also, only recently did my misfire start to occur. Around a month ago. I was due for a new cap and rotor and new wires anyway, so I'm not sad about replacing those. I do wonder if I should replace the dwell chip in the distributor though. Any thoughts?
