Default Heater Core...

so, My AC spews antifreeze smelling fog, and there's the tell tale fog on the windsheild after she sits for awhile after a drive.

The research I've done all points to the heater core. I've read the thread here where I can access it with the passenger seat out and a few components from the underside of the dash...

the thread was kinda dated....anyone got any advice before I get started?

I'm 20, and have no formal mechanical training or experience prior to owning this car, which I got in January. I did it myself. It took a total of something like 12 hours, including a break to go to a coworkers house for a few hours. It's honestly not bad if you follow the guild, label everything you take out, and be careful to not break anything.

When I did mine, there was some foam sh#^ that disintegrated and came out. I didn't bother replacing it, but I probably should have. I think it was a sort of seal between the heat/ac components.

Also, when you go to physically remove your heater core, the hoses clamped to it will be stuck. I cut mine, but I heard you can heat them or something like that to get them loose. Be careful of the clamps, if you lose grip on one, it can snap open and pop a hole clean in your big black AC box thing.

Good luck friend!
