Injector anomaly has us puzzled!

Our 89 started acting up last week, it idles beautifully but it starts to starve for fuel when you give it moderate throttle. New Fuel pump and rebuilt injectors. Here is what we can't figure out; when it is idling, you can pull the injector wire harness off the whole one side of the engine and it still idles like a champ! Is that normal? I think not, but I am old school and don't have a full handle this EFI thing. Any thoughts out there?

Fuel filter clogged? Put a fuel pressure gauge on and drive it, see what it does. The starved for fuel symptom could be clogged cats too, it won't rev then.

fuel pressure checks are in order. Additionally, each injector bank has 1 fuse per side. Check the fuses/wires to ensure 12v is available to each side of the injector harness.

It would be a good idea to check fuel pressure with a gauge while driving if it is not an electrical problem.
