For some reason 882 comes to mind but maybe thats the OEM bulb.

At one point, I remember reading about a cooler/better bulb to use. I though it was on this guys website but I can't find it now.

I think its 880 or 882. you can't guy them with the base anymore but I just saw them at Autozone last week.
if you can't find them at the auto parts store try lowes-- They had the 50 watt halogens for my back up and several other odd ball DC bulbs.. MGR said he thought it was national not just store section.

The original lamps are 882 and they are available at any decent auto parts stores. There is a cooler operating lamp that is a xenon lamp but it is too long for early C4 clusters. Stick with the 882's!

Yep, 882. I've had good luck finding them at NAPA. I usually just yank the bulbs out of the sockets from the front and put the new ones in. The last time though I had one that just wouldn't stay lit all the time so removed the whole cluster and replaced the entire bulb and socket. I noticed the contacts on the circuit board for the bulbs were well worn so I "tinned" them with solder and then installed the bulbs. They work great now and don't flicker on hard bumps.

good luck,

Ron
