hello noob with his first post - welcome to the nut house!
first of all, are any codes set? seems there's something like 29 codes related to the ABS/ASR system. i'm looking at my "corvette ABS/ASR operation and diagnosis" manual, and i don't see anything what would cause a complete shutdown. it might be ECM related - i'll keep looking through the manual and see if anything jumps out...
hang in there. there's a lot of smart people on the forum - someone will figure this out...
code 42 doesn't seem to be a ABS/ASR related code - ??? the ASR light just may be a coincidence. for grins and giggles, disconnect your battery for about a half hour. see if that helps...
I am new to this forum, and I appreciate all of the knowlege and experience that you share.
I would like to share something that might help someone with a ASR problem...
While working on John L's 1996 LT1 Corvette,
(after installing a Jet Technologies Supercharger, 40# injectors, Trifecta Reflash, Maganflow hi flow cats, Flowmaster exhaust, Jacobs ignition,)
for no apparent reason the ASR off light, Service ASR light, and Service engine soon lights came on.?!?!?!
It turned out that the brand new TPS went bad after about two weeks after I installed it?!
Showing 0V at idle it kicked on the ASR code.
More later.
Tom
I checked to see if gettig fire with timing light(crude method) No fire. I'm a working slob will try more tomorrow. thanks for your help.
That's not always a good way to check for spark, mine won't run a timing light unless it's running. Pull a plug wire, stick a plug in it and lay it on a ground somewhere, then check for spark while cranking.
