Default Base manifold bolts???

I am removing my base, and the manifold bots are either very very tight, or they are seized in.

How much pressure does it take you guys to get yours out?

I have never experienced this type of torque on an engine intake before, and I am afraid to strip the head, or break the bolt off in the head.

I am soaking them with PB blaster, but I only got one free so far.

Any input?
Breaker bar/ impact wrench

I used a half inch also, but it did not work. it even took a little while with the impact, this morning, so I can't believe I did not break any.

I did have to pound a T45 in to 2 of them, but then they came out fine after that.

I have no idea how in the hell that thing was on so tight.

Mini is now on, and being all hooked back up, except I dropped the dizzy clamp some where

Intake bolts only should be torqued to around 30ft-lbs or so. Who put the manifold in?

Thats what I was thinking.

I wish I would have replaced my Torx bolts with some SS .. You might consider that while you have them out.

The base was in the car already, When I put on my SR I just used runners, and plenum, because the base was ported, and already had the egr plate, and stuff.

I don't know who did that, but I hope that is not from a shop, because the previous owner, was an old man that had a "mechanic". All of the gaskets, and stuff wre new when I got the car.

Thank god I did not break or strip one.

Oh yeah, they also had the whole bolt covered in RTV all the way down too. Not a smear, but a coat of that crap.

Unfortunately people at a shop are not working on their own car and don't take the care that we do. I have seen it a million times Techs using air rachets and not following torque specs.
I think I was the only one who used torque sticks when I was a tech.

It fell behind the motor, I'll find it, or get a different one.

I sprayed WD-40 overnight and next morning I removed them with an open wrench.

Is your engine out? If it still in the engine bay, how are you going to use an impact gun?

FSM states, Manifold bolts: 30 lbs ft

It is an L98, and I had to use an impact to get the manifold bolts the hold the intake to heads out.

They were soaked for 24 hours with PB blaster, and I worked on them, then this morning I figured I had to resort to the impact.

They all came out, and the miniram is on.

I have a Camaro that eats tools back under the distributor. Like a black hole or something. Good thing I only open the hood once a year.
