Where should I go for a computer, or should I go DFI? I have a healthy stroker, and I know the motor specs. I haven't bought the exterior components (fuel, ignition, intake, etc).
im doing away with my computer & fuel injection. i put a airgap intake & holly 750 carb on. not only was it less exspensive but it just simplified things. :yesnod: good luck whatever you choose.
Re: Computer for new 383 stroker? (yoslambo1@cs.com)
Sorry Eric, :U Is what I say to carbs...they may be simpler to work on..but I still don't care for them.
you could get lucky like beach bum or ralph whom both have a mail order formato chip(I think) Or go with a DFI and the right person tuning it. If I had to do it over again, DFI would have been my first choice. There is an ingenious tuner close by.
I'll third the recommendation to keep the stock ecm. The maf setup can handle up to about 550 NA hp and the ecm goes up to 6500+ rpm. You will probably want to go to 30 lb injectors unless you are exceeding 480 hp in which case 36 lb.
Re: Computer for new 383 stroker? (AquaMetallic94LT1)
I'm not planning to get a new computer if I don't have to, but I need to know where to send the stock computer to have it reprogrammed. I also need some help finding out what fuel and intake and other components to get so I have a good matched setup.
Tune it yourself! Refer to the ECM/PCM tuning section here on the forum. Or you could send it off to Ed Wright (fastchips) or I think Chris B at SpeedDemon Motorsports might do tuning too.
