The only ones that are adjustable ( and cheap ) are the ones that have a probe that fits in the top radiator hose. They have a adjustment that lets you set temp.

Most people just install a fixed switch in the head that gives the desired operating range ,wire that to the relay bypassing the computer control and don't worry about adjusting it

Of course there are more expensive fully electronic adjustable units

ok, your fan is controlled by a cooling fan switch, and it's set to switch on at 108C (226 deg).

you can go three routes from what i can tell...

1. manual override switch - tap into the field lead of the cooling fan relay harness and connect up a toggle switch, one wire to the tapped wire, the other to ground (grounding out the field lead on your relay activates the fan)

2. low temp cooling fan switch - There is a 100C (212 deg) temp cooling fan switch that fits where the original one goes, GM p/n 3053190.

3. aftermarket cooling fan thermostat kit - you can piggyback this into one of the fan circuits and make it adjustable.

Hope that helps.

The original switch ( if fitted ) only controls the aux fan in front of radiator.New switch needs to be wired to the main fan to control that as well

if that's true thats an easy fix, just swap out the primary/secondary field wires between the two relays, or run a jumper connecting them both together so they come on at the same time.

IF you have a Aux fan fitted in front of radiator there will be a existing switch in the drv side head between # 1 and 3 spark plugs.
If not that, plugged hole is where you new switch goes

As noted above .
You splice into the wire that goes to the computer from fan relay
( that way the computer will still run your fan if the switch fails ) and connect that wire to the new switch along with the old wire
( if you have aux fan )
Requires running a new wire from main fan relay to switch in head

It is not a hot wire.
It is a wire to ground to turn the relay on.
Same way as above ,just that you run the wire inside to a switch that goes to ground
Turn the switch on ; fan runs.
Switch off ;the computer runs the fan

For what it's worth, I just installed a low temp fan switch and wired it into my secondary fan of my '94, and it's working great.

Since the LT1 doesn't have a cooling fan switch sensor between #1 and #3, I installed a kit consisting of a brass tee, a 212 deg (+/- 8 degrees according to specs) GM fan switch, the electrical sensor wire connector, and wire tap for the relay field wire (dark blue for secondary, dark green for primary).

Now, the temp gauge reads 207 deg. when the fan switch kicks on and shuts off at 197 deg. No more 230 degree stoplights!

Could have put your new switch in the hole between #6 and 8 .No tee needed

That location has the temp variable resistor for the temp gauge, it is not a switch.

I thought the temp gauge sender on a LT1 must be on LH side which is why he used a tee to mount fan switch and gauge sender?
