Default Hurst shifter and B&M Hammerhead T shift ****

I'll be putting the shifter in when I install the dual disk clutch.

I ordered mine through zrchris
I figured he came up with it so ...
He modifies the Hammerheads to fit our cars
Stock they won't go, to small,

I went ahead and put the Hammerhead **** on the stock shifter.
Feels great!

Looks good. A question I have thought about for some time now is: The stock 6 speed **** is very long top to bottom. If someone made a **** that was threaded 99% of the way through (like the old Hurst T bars) so that it sits lower on the shift lever you would gain maybe 1/2 inch in the throw distance. So if the shift rod is 10" long that would equal a 5% reduction in distance by just changing the ****. Any thoughts?

You need to know the leverage ratio as well as the upper arm length to know the impact on the throw reduction. Stock leverage ratio is around 8.4, and upper arm length around 10" if I remember right. Anyway, the stock ****'s top is only about 1/2" above the threads, the **** threads on further than you might think. You can't do much better than that without cutting threads. If you do cut 1" off the height, you get about a 16% throw reduction. It's not worth the effort to do this vs. installing a Hurst, not only because you'll get 30% throw reduction but also retain factory smoothness and have a much more precise, solid feel due to elimination of the stock rubber coupling.
