No you don't need anything special. It's a simple pump! There are guys that just use ATF forever and that even works fine. I switched mine to Redline synthetic because of track use. If you'd like more advice give Turn One a call.
It's not the pump...
Here's what the '92 shop manual (page 3B-2) says:
"When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use GM P/N 12345866. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks"
I had to replace a leaky pump (PITA) this month, and just bought two pints of 12345866 at Rinke Chevrolet in Centerline, MI. They have more!

Yes and there are seals in every system on your car that uses oil. If you read an ATF bottle it will talk about seal conditioners.
Every component in the auto transmission that seals tight is made of rubber, or teflon.
Not saying to use it in the steering system, but it certainly is compatible with rubber.
Did the C4's, specifically the 1996 LT4, come from the factory with Synthetic, Non-Synthetic or PS Blend? Does Blend fluid require the entire PS system be flushed?
