Help Please,......... Vette stalling out
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum so forgive me if this has been asked recently.....OK I just bought my 84 Vette last week, and it's been running a bit rough since I took it home. I need to tune it up , but I wanted to know what I should check first, It stalls sometimes when I have the gas pedal about 1/4 of the way down then it smoothes out as I either step on it or ease off the gas... Also sometimes it takes a few tries to start it. All I've done so far is new AC plugs and fuel filter but it still does this....any info is greatly

First I would change the O2 sensor...It most likely hasn't been changed in a long time. Second I would check the voltage and adjust the TPS sensor..It should be 5.25 +- .075. I would then remove the IAC Valves, clean out the passages (you have one on each injestor body) You should also check the EGR, check the solenoid for opperation, also remove the valve and clean the port and the valve itself. My suggestion would be to get the http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp manual. Get the service manual and the electrical suppliment. Manual=SST36484 Suppliment ST36484ETM Worth every cent of the 60 bucks you will spend. You have an 18 year old car there...who knows what previous owners have or have not done to it.

Another item you may want to address, is: cleaning the Throttle Body.
This is over looked by many, and is a contributor to some of the problems you mentioned. It could very well be, that the previous owner wasn't up on maintenance...like those of the members you'll meet here on Corvette Forum.
